It was a hot and humid afternoon.....

Hey everyone!!!i'm sorry that i havent been posting regularly but i promise that u'll see the frequency of my posts increasing in the near future. One of my good friends Ashish has wriiten a poem which i want to share. it is titled "It was a hot and humid afternoon"....

It was a hot and humid afternoon,

And I was punished for reasons unknown.

I sat in a chair, in one lonely corner,

Biting my nails and my heart brimmed with anger.

Suddenly, a cool and gentle breeze blew,

And the hair falling on my forehead flew.

I looked out of the window,

And saw with awe, a squirrel move to and fro.

It climbed up the tree,

And jumped with glee.

No one to restrict,

No one to contradict.

I wish I were a squirrel, so free,

No rules and regulations to govern me.

I wish my life was beautiful, just like that,

With boundless freedom, no one to cut.

No books, no bags, no heavy loads,

To carry on my shoulders on the busy roads.

No seniors, no sirs, no one to fight,

I could dance like no ones watching in the bright sun light.

And then, I could hear a dog, from a distance bark,

And I saw the squirrel hide in a hole so dark.

It was then that I realized, problems exist everywhere,

Its how you face them that takes you anywhere.

My valentine

Hey ppl, i'm back.i wrote a poeam from valetines's day, so here it is....do post your comments abt it...

This is a poem for a special person about whom i care,
She looks stunningly gorgeous and has slender, long hair.
Her eyes make my knees weak and her smile makes me swoon,
Her mood as unpredictable as the erratic monsoon.
She's made of sugar, spice and everything nice,
No, she's not a powerpuff girl, i think she's scared of mice.
She consoles me when i lose and applauds me when i win.
She's always with me through thick and thin,
She cheers me up when i'm low,
She keeps me happy and my face aglow.
She's gentle, soft, caring and cool,
She loves to tease me, she calls me a "fool".
She cute and lovable when she's in a bad mood,
She keeps throwing tantrums and she stops eating food.
There's always a smile on her face, which makes her look so damn pretty,
She puts my mind in a whirl and makes my vision hazy,
Wherever and whoever you may be, i wish you would be mine,
On my knees, i'll give u a rose, Will you be my valentine??

A walk to die for

This story is wriiten by prateik(prateikprince@gmail.com), a very good
of mine who is studying in Bits,Pilani...

“I’m not getting the right vibes from you ..."

“I think ...I think I’m just a passing emotion for you ...."

“Do you seriously like me? ...You say you do ....but you rarely sound

like you mean it..."

“Do you think we'll last? Why do I get the feeling we won’t? "

These words were haunting me ...I couldn’t get them out of my head.

I mean when you're girlfriend says such things to you; you know all is

not well.

I was not with her ...but I could hear her voice constantly in my head.

Vizag is truly a beautiful city. There is a road in particular which I like a lot,

it leads up the hills right next to the ocean. Looking at the sea, so close

by as you ride up the hill is a remarkable experience. As beautiful as it is,

the road is also equally dangerous. It’s because right below the road are rocks.....

huge chunks of them ....sharp and hard. The road has been beautifully

decorated with lights.

A few eateries have come up right next to the road.

I was standing outside one of these eateries with a few friends of mine.

“The food was bad“ “Well ...for the amount of cash we spent, any food

is good food.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?" “It means ur a cheapo, dum dum”

"Ya rite! Say that after we get our marks.....you're an effin failure!"

“At least ...I don’t fail to pay the bill! Ha ha! “.....my friendsJ.

It was eight o'clock in the night and a full moon was out.

I noticed how effective the lights on the road were ....

we could clearly see everything and anything out there.

The dark ocean next to us was the perfect contrast.

It was beautiful, slightly scary because of the height above sea level .

..and the gigantic rocks below...and the dark savage endless sea .

..but still beautiful. The moon light and the lights on the road seemed to be

complementing each other.

We decided to head back home and were moving towards our motorbikes

when I turned around to admire the beauty of the sea once again. I did

see the ocean, but I also saw something else which was almost equally beautiful.

It was a girl, who seemed to be about my age or slightly elder to me.

She was wearing a beautiful white dress which ended just at knee level.

She had beautiful long straight hair which was shining in the moon light.

She wasn’t too tall....but pretty gals don’t have to be tall!J She was

slightly fair ...

but had a good tan .She walked out of the restaurant where we had

just eaten.

Presently she was standing on the foot path right next to the edge

of the road and

looking around, she caught me staring at her open mouthed and

smiled at me. I blushed.

Then, suddenly she started walking towards me. Now, this was a

shocker...

I mean pretty girls don’t usually walk towards you, it’s traditionally

the other way around

.J But what the heck...it’s a modern world now. She stopped

right in front of me and said,

“Hey! Do you want to save my life?“ Well I didn’t know what to say...

.this was probably some kinda wierdo pick up line I thought ...

.it’s a really modern world.”Excuse me?“,I asked ...looking as innocent

as possible.

“You heard me right ...do you want to save my life?

I'll jump off the edge if you don’t wanna save me ...",She was smiling ...

.I didn’t know how to react...it wasn’t fun anymore.

I was contemplating whether to just walk away or say something.

Before I could make a decision she continued," Listen , I’m plannin to

commit suicide ...

.but I feel my life deserves a chance at least....so if you can convince

me not to commit suicide ,

ill go home ....if you fail to convince me , ill jump off the edge ...."

Well , I’ve always felt that my life so far had prepared me to face

any situation

in the right manner , but at that point of time, I was lost.

She was still smiling, but something in those beautiful eyes suggested

that she was serious.

“Are you kiddin me??” I asked looking at her seriously. She looked

me in the eye and said,

“You know I’m not." I knew she wasn’t. Just then one of my

friends ran up to me and asked

"Dude...are you coming or not?” “Err...you guys go on ...

I’ll stay with my friend here.” I replied. He looked at the girl and

said teasingly,

“Oh...ok...enjoy dude!” As soon as he left she said, ”So...."friend",

let’s go for a walk.

" I knew I had to listen to whatever she said, so we started walking on the

footpath right next to the edge. I remained silent for some time,

I’ve seen movies...

I was trying to recollect what were the right words to be said to a suicidal person.

When I didn’t say anything at all for a minute she spoke up, “Dude...

.if you bore me like this ...I’m gonna jump off real fast ..." She was

still smiling.

I had to think fast ..." The moon is beautiful today isn’t it?" I asked.

At this she laughed loudly and said, “Dude! Seriously, are you trying

to save me or seduce me?

“ The people around us gave me dirty looks.” Ok ok ...tell me why

you want to commit suicide.",

I asked embarrassed. She replied promptly, “Oh ...it’s the usual, got

dumped by

my guy for whom I dumped my family ..... Ran away from home

yesterday evening ....

was supposed to meet the bastard today morning at the restaurant ...

bastard didn’t turn up , but the manager did ...nice man the manager ,

asked me as politely as he could to leave the restaurant ..

Don’t blame him ...was waiting over there for the bastard since morning ....

man! How I loved the bastard."

The cool sea breeze carried off the tiny droplets from her moist eyes ..

.but she was still smiling. I've always liked people who could cry and

smile at the same time,

I replied, " So...that’s why you’re planning to kill yourself? I've heard

loads of stories like this,

however people don’t usually commit suicide for such things...

sometimes they do ...

but the strong ones don’t .“ She replied, “Hey! Do you seriously

think I’m strong??

Not exactly ...I’m weak ...I always was ...if I really was strong, why

would I leave my

family for the bastard I loved? I would have found a way to make

them both work ...

nope, I was always dumb ...I was always weak." I knew she would

say something like

that , I was ready with my reply, " Well , I’ve always believed

that the only way in

which you can learn how to be strong is from such ...unpleasant events ....

and clearly you've learnt a lot !" “Shadap kiddo! What do you know

about love!

It’s not some experiment where you're looking to learn ...you

don’t analyse it!

Tell me kiddo ...do you have a girl friend?“ She asked. ”No....

.actually...yes, I do.“,

I replied. She said," Ha! Well then you're girl's a damn unlucky

gal! She's got a guy

who doesn’t even know why he's with her. Listen kiddo, you're

too damn innocent!

Did she say that she loves you?“ “Well she did ..." I replied.”And

what did you say loser?“

She asked. ”I said ... I said I wasn’t sure ...",I replied. She didn’t

say anything.

We walked silently for some time. Then she pulled out a cigarette

from her tiny

purse and light it with a lighter. She took a puff and coughed madly;

she looked

at me and asked, “Do you smoke?” I turned my head away ...

.I was always allergic to

cigarette smoke. She smiled at me and said , "I don’t smoke either kiddo

...first time ...

the bastard smokes a lot...got him a pack and a lighter as a gift ...

now I gift it to myself ...

need to experience as many things as I possibly can before I die na ?"

I didn’t say anything; she took another puff and once again

coughed madly.

She threw it away and continued, “Never smoke dude ...it kills."

I remained silent.

I watched as the dark sea lashed madly against the rocks below.

She smiled at me and said,

“What’s wrong now? Little baby got hurt by what I said?“

“Nope...I’m thinking about all the things I didn’t say ....”,

I replied seriously.

"Wow! So you really care about this girl huh? “, she asked. ”

Ya...I do.“, I replied.

She looked me in the eye and said, “Listen kiddo....you told her

you're not sure..

.that must have hurt a lot ...believe me you're never gonna be sure ...

take a chance kiddo , love someone , you know she did ...don’t try

to get all modern by

avoiding the L-word...take a chance , she already did .“

I remained silent for some time;

I was waiting for her words to sink in. After a couple of minutes

I spoke up,

“You’re beautiful." She smiled and replied, "I know." I looked

at her with my

special mischievous smile and said, “You really are." She laughed

loudly and replied,

“I know, I know! I caught you staring at me, didn’t I! Little

baby hitting on girls

elder to you huh!" She was laughing and I was smiling. "Hold on.",

I said and she

stopped walking. Then I got down on one knee like they do in the

movies and said,

"Weird suicidal lady ....will you marry me?” She laughed and

laughed, she finally said,

" I'm not sure ...I’ll let you know the next time we meet kiddo ...

whether it’s in heaven or on earth.” I got up and said," Heaven?

How do you know we're not gonna end up in hell?

" To that she looked at me, gave me a really big smile and said,

“Hell? It doesn’t exist kiddo.“ I smiled in response.

As I was about to walk forward she stopped me and said,

"Our walk ends here kiddo....it’s time for you to go home.”

“But ...but, what about you?”,I asked in despair.

“Oh! Me? Don’t worry about me silly! I'll be fine!

I'll walk alone for some time and at the end of my walk I’ll

make my decision.

“, She replied. I remained silent; she was a friend now ...

I can’t leave a friend like that. She saw that I was worried and said,

“Hey! Chill man! You did an amazing job....

don’t know when was the last time I had this much fun!

But for now.....I need to walk alone.“ I understood that there was nothing

much I could do, I said, “Ok...but please please try not to kill yourself!

You're a very nice person!" To that she laughed and said, “I’ll try."

So, our walk had finally come to an end, now it was her walk up the

hill and mine down the hill. As I was walking down, I was worried

and kinda happy at the same time. I somehow got the feeling that

I would see her again one day. It was just a feeling. Next day I

scanned all the newspapers, luckily there were no reports of any

deaths related to the sea. Maybe she did survive...she was too

good to die. I immediately called up my girlfriend.

Girlfriend: “Hey! Whassup? "

Me: “Hey! I love you..."

The Legend Of The Peacock Dude.....

*****THIS STORY WAS WRITTEN BY PRATEIK(prateikprince@gmail.com)*****

The Legend Of The Peacock Dude

25th November, 1997.

I woke up at 8 in the morning. I didn’t mean to, but with all the commotion in the wing, I simply had to. I peered into the corridor to see what all the commotion was about. Most of my wing mates were standing outside one particular room. “I hear it’s the first Pentium computer in Rajasthan! “, “No, my friend in Jaipur has one “, “Dude! It has a hard disk of 2 GB capacity! “, “Ya, it has a 64 mb ram card as well. “ “His dad is a business man dude ....” “I think business is too risky yaar ....” Well...somebody in my wing had a computer. I wish my dad were a businessman, and then I would have bought the best computer in the world! . I didn’t want to see the computer; I never could enjoy seeing stuff I can’t get. As I was up, I decided to have breakfast in the mess, for the first time in the month. Waking up that early in the morn in this cold wasn’t exactly my cup of tea or coffee (what? bitsian pj maan! ) . I’m a first year student in BITS, Pilani, which is considered to be one of the best engineering colleges in India. Everybody in the bhavan (our hostel complex) was talking about it. In the evening we played cricket like we always did, however this time we managed to break a window pane, my window pane. We covered it up with a wooden plank, hoping that it would keep the cold out and also that the warden wouldn’t notice the broken window. However, it turned out that a crudely fixed wooden plank was no substitute for a well fused piece of glass and that our warden wasn’t exactly blind. I had to spend many nights in the shivering cold and cricket was banned in all bhavans in the college from that day onwards, ya ....life ain’t easy. That night the whole wing was still standing outside that one particular room with the computer in it. Having nothing else to do, I decided to go for a ride on my bicycle. It was really cold, which is to be expected as it was 1 am in the night, but I was determined to go for a ride. BITS at 1 am in the night is a completely different place. I felt really excited in a weird sort of way, it’s the kind of feeling you get when you know danger is all around you but it can’t exactly get you. Well, I somehow wanted to feel danger. I saw a couple of dogs on the road. One of them was light yellow in colour and was lying in the middle of the road. The other one was dark grey in colour and was lying next to the road. I assumed that the fair one was female because ....well it looked like one. (What?) I cycled right in between them and suddenly both of them got up and started running after me! Then out of nowhere another dog came and chased me! I wanted danger and I got it, I also want an opportunity to kick myself, hope I get that soon as well. I started cycling faster ...but they were way faster than me. Two of them went ahead and blocked my path ....man, whoever said dogs were dumb sure needs to get his facts set right. So I had to slow down, but I didn’t and I smashed right into the dogs! I fell off my cycle and the last thing I remember was rolling down some slope and then it all went blank.

When I woke up I was lying in the middle of what looked like a really old garden. At first it was all blurred, but soon I could see something very weird. I was completely surrounded by peacocks! There were around 10 of them and they were standing around me. They seemed to be looking at me; I was scared, peacocks can be dangerous if they want to ... I didn’t know what to do. I slowly got up and moved towards the exit. They turned to look at me as I left. They had this really peculiar look on their faces. I climbed up the slope and saw that my cycle was still lying in the middle of the road. I looked at my watch, it was 5 am and it was damn cold. I rushed back to my room and locked the door. I fell asleep as soon as I lay on my bed. The peacocks were taking over the bhavan with rocket launchers and machine guns. I ran from one room to another, hoping to find someone. They were all empty. Finally, I reached the room with the computer in it. A peacock was working on it. It turned towards me, a pistol in it’s ...err “paw” and said “Well ....did u like my computer? Dude! I wanna know if u liked my computer! “Bang bang. I woke up. Somebody was banging on the door. I opened it and saw that it was the guy who bought the computer recently. He looked at me and said, “Ur always sleepin dude! Did u see my comp? Did u like it? The whole wing loves it you know ...” “No bro, i haven’t seen it yet ....ill drop by when im free and check it out ok? “I asked. He looked at me disapprovingly and walked away. I went back inside and locked the door. I always had strange dreams, but peacocks with rocket launchers were a bit too much. I went to the mess and had lunch. I somehow couldn’t stop thinking about the peacocks I saw in the morning. When I told my friends about what had happened, they laughed at me and gave various perverted theories as to what could have happened. They said that the dogs thought that I was just another dog riding on a cycle, the female dog got attracted to me as I looked like a handsome male dog and the jealous male dogs were competing for the female dog. I know that dogs are doing lots of cool stuff these days, but a dog generally cycling around the Bits campus at 1am in the night is rather improbable I guess. I don’t really know what made me do it ....but in the evening, I went back to the old garden. The peacocks were still there. I just looked at them and walked away. The next day I went back to the garden, but this time I stole a can of milk from the mess and left in the garden for the peacocks to drink. I didn’t know if I was crazy or not.....but i somehow felt connected to the peacocks. I kept doing the same thing daily, ya ....I kept stealing daily. The peacocks knew exactly when I would come and waited for me at the garden. A few days later, I was caught. I was presented before a disciplinary committee. When I told them I was feeding the peacocks, they were shocked (though they hid it well) and told me that it was none of my business to feed them. They let me go without any punishment, but I had to pay for the milk I had stolen. From the next day onwards.....I bought milk and gave it to the peacocks. Soon the number of peacocks which turned up increased. People who saw me with all the peacocks laughed and made fun of me. I wasn’t surprised, I mean even my friends teased me! But believe me ...it sure was worth it. The peacocks trusted me and I trusted them, I even gave them names....I felt powerful when I was with them. It gave me confidence ....confidence that somebody or something out there cares about and trusts me. Soon people started referring to me as “that peacock dude”....so I became “the peacock dude”.

One day, when I was with the peacocks, somebody called out “Why do you feed them? “. I looked around, it was a girl ...”the girl”. She was fair , not too tall , pretty slim , had short hair and ....and was also the most beautiful gal I had ever seen . (It’s always relativeJ). I opened my mouth, but I didn’t know what to say! “You talk only to peacocks huh? “She said and laughed at her own ...err “joke” (the true bitsian that she is). Her smile ....it was “the smile”. ...She was so so ....wait a sec! Why would she even be interested in me! I was the loser peacock dude whom everybody made fun of.....she was probably here to make fun of me. I didn’t say anything and ignored her. “Hey! I’m sorry ....I hope I didn’t hurt u!” she said...and her tone made it clear to me that she was sorry. “No ....it’s not that...it’s just that people come here mostly to make fun of me ....” I told her, looking at nothing but my dirty old shoes.”But why?? I think what you’re doing is very cool and cute. “She said with a smile. “Really? “I asked ....I couldn’t stop blushing. “Not really ....I think you’re a pathetic loser freak who talks to peacocks cos they are the only things that can stand you! Ha ha ha! “She said and kept on laughing. I felt miserable ....I wanted to cry.... so I did cry. She was shocked ...she said, “Hey! Kiddo...why are u crying! Stop cryin! “I tried to stop crying, but I couldn’t. All the humiliation I faced seemed to come back with renewed force. She kept her arm around me and said “Hey! I’m sorry ....I didn’t mean it....it was just for fun ....people really are givin you a tough time huh? “I nodded in approval and wiped my face with my hanky. She said , “Look dude ...I’m sorry ...I understand how you fell....I had to wear braces on my teeth once and people really made fun of me then ....look ...if anybody ever gives you any trouble just call me ok ? “And she gave me her number. .....the first err “female number “I had!

She came to visit me and the peacocks every day after that. Sometimes, she even brought milk for the peacocks. She said she felt happy when she was with us and that really made me happy. Slowly our friendship grew and we became best friends. My friends thought that she was my girlfriend and congratulated me on my “great achievement”. I tried convincing them that she was only a friend...but they were in no mood to hear all of that. They even made a statue of me sitting on a peacock with the scrap they found behind the workshop. They installed the statue in the old garden and engraved “the peacock dude” on it.

It was simply perfect happiness. Sure, people still made fun of us ...I simply didn’t care anymore. I couldn’t define it ....me, the peacocks and her ...we were like a closely knit family. Everyday I was in heaven ...every minute was heavenly.... i was experiencing supreme bliss! Then I thought to myself, if I had a computer, I would have been stuck up in my room all the time and would have never met the peacocks or “the girl”. Then I decided that if my dad were a businessman ...I wouldn’t buy the world’s best computer ...I would buy more milk for the peacocks.

The Dream

Hey all.....This time around, i;m gonna post a poem.....i just wrote whatever came to my mind,u will come to know why i wrote this as u read on....

I was walking down a hallway
Which was stretching away and away...

It looked as though it had no end,
As far as I could see, it did not bend
A door appeared to my right,
From underneath it was radiating some queer blue light...

A little hesitantly, i stepped in,
The room dissolved and swallowed me in...
I kept falling, quite a distance i fell,
Not a soul in sight to hear my franctic yell...
Onto the hard floor i crash landed,
I was not hurt, but my head smarted...
I opened my eyes and looked around,
Everything was white, even the ground...

It was white, pure white and it made me dizzy,
My head started spinning and my vision became fuzzy...

I lost conciousness and immediately fainted,
I woke up in a room which in many colours was painted...
There were so many animals which were so gayly dancing,
The hippo and pony were happily prancing...
The music was queer, it made my head spin,
I felt as if i was hit hard on the chin...
I found myself in a completely different place and time,
I was staring at a beautiful maiden who was looking heavenly and divine...
She was beautiful, as beautiful a girl can be,
I don't think I ever saw a prettier girl than she...
I looked deep into her eyes and she gazed back,
This was the perfect time to attack...
I bent forward, expecting a kiss,
She bent forward, to make true my wish...
Then there was a hiss....
The barell of a gun i was about to kiss...
It was held by a man in a black suit and top hat,
He had scars on his face and he looked quite fat...

He said ,"This will teach you not to mess with me you crackpot!",
He pulled the trigger, I was shot........

I woke up to see that my Professor was lost,
In the complex equations involving Kirchhoff's laws...

He spoke of resistors and inductors,in series and in parallel,
How people can actually understand this is really a marvel...
I felt that Network Analysis was not my cup of tea,
I travelled back to my dream world, which was so perfect for me......

The Thief

Hey ppl....i was kinda feeling bored in my Applied Physics class....so i set my imagination free and wrote a story about a thief...check it out....

It was around half past ten in the night. It was almost time to close the shop, thought Hariram. He owned a small grocery store. His store was going through a rough patch due to the advent of many supermarket chains into the neighbourhood. People had a wider choice and range to choose from, so they preferred to go there. There were se customers who were accustomed to coming to his store, so he was getting customers, but his store had seen better days. It had been a hectic day. Since his assistant had been unable to report to work as he was down with malaria, Hariram had to do most of the work himself. He was thinking about closing the shop when a person came up to the counter and said,

“Can I have a box of Kellog’s corn flakes?” he asked.

He seemed like he was in his mid-twenties. Hariram was accustomed to seeing different people, with different mannerisms who came to his store. This person seemed to e a bit tense, he was constantly looking over his shoulder, Hariram thought.

“ Could you wait here while I get it for you sir?” Hariram asked him.

“Of course” was the reply.

Hariram usually kept all his stock in a store room behind his shop. His assistant usually did work like this, but as he did not report to work today, Hariram had to do all the work himself. He went to get the box of corn flakes.

While Hariram was gone, the customer took a glance around him. He made sure that Hariram was in the store room. Assured that that coast was clear, he reached for the draw in which the money made by the store was kept. There was a lot of change stored in glasses, but it was not the change that he was interested in. Underneath the glasses, the real money was kept. He saw that there were three fat wads of money. Not bad for a small store like this one, he thought as he nimbly picked up two of them. He replaced the draw coolly just as Hariram came back.

“Here it is sir. That would be ninety seven” said Hariram.

The customer took a fat wad of notes from his pocket and gave him a hundred rupee note. Hariram was curious to see a person walking around with so much money on him, but it was not his money, so he kept his thought to himself. As Hariram was giving him the change, another customer came up to him. He waited until the first customer left before he made his purchase.

Prabhakar was having a really bad day. His father had had a heart attack recently and was now hospitalized. Prabhakar insisted on a good hospital even thought the costs were very high. After his father was admitted, he realized that the costs were not very high, they were skyrocketing. There were expenses for almost everything under the sun and money was just flowing out of his pockets. It was as if the doctor was coming to feel his purse rather that his father’s pulse. He was asked to get some milk powder so he came to a store nearby to get it. He used to his motorcycle to get there. He always felt happy in any circumstance when he drove his bike. It gave his a heavenly, soothing feeling. He came to the store and parked is bike in front of it. He left the keys in the ignition and came up to the store. As he came, he noticed a man paying the shop-keeper. The man gave the shop-keeper a single note from a large wad of notes. He was curious and looked at the man. He didn’t look like a person who has so much money, but he was not here to judge others he thought. He waited till the first customer left before asking the shop-keeper for the milk powder that he needed.

The first customer, jubiliant that his plan had worked perfectly wanted to quickly made a silent escape before the shop-keeper noticed the theft of his hard earned money. He saw a bike with a key in it. Two birds with one shot he thought. He silently and casually got on to the bike and pushed it for a few metres till he was away from the shop, then he started it and then he was off!!!

The first thing he did was to go sell that bike. He got a cool twenty thousand for it. It was a very good day for him. Ten thousand rupees from the shop and twenty thousand for the bike were plentiful. That sort of money could last him a month, he thought.

The next day, he was walking and he came to where bank was situated. It was a very hot day, and most people were avoiding the streets. Just then he saw a man emerge from the bank carrying a pouch with his. It didn’t take him long to guess what the contents of the pouch were, in fact, it even gave him some ideas.

Sandeep had to go to the bank to withdraw some money from his account. He needed the money to pay for his son’s operation. His son was getting his leg operated that day. His son had a nasty fall and injured his leg.

After he had withdrawn the money, he got into his car and rolled down both the front windows. It was quite a hot day, he thought. He put the pouch with all the money in the passenger seat. Just as he was about to start the engine, a man popped his head through the passenger window and asked for the the time. Sandeep looked at his watch and when he looked at the person again, the person was missing. So was his pouch full of money. Instinctively, Sandeep got out of his car and he could see the man running away with his pouch. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. It was his money and he had every right to it and he was not going to let to get away so easily.

He ran after the thief, shouting “ thief! Thief! Stop!!”

The thief, who noticed this, immediately came to the conclusion that running in the main road was not at all safe, so he quickly darted into the slums nearby. He knew his way through them, and he could easily lose his pursuer.

Sandeep had been a sportsman during his college years. He had set record for the 100 meter dash that was still holding in his college. He ran after the thief swiftly and the separation between them kept constantly decreasing. He ran into the slums after his. He had to dodge little children, dogs, women carrying buckets of water on their heads, and women doing their laundry but he was still catching up on the thief. The thief was not a dumb one. He saw that his pursuer was catching up with him, so he started turning this way and that in order to shake off his pursuer, but he just couldn’t. Every turn he made just seemed to bring both of them closer. They came to a place where many washed clothes were hanging to be dried. The thief grabbed some clothes and hurled them at his pursuer. This caught Sandeep off guard and the wet floor made him loose his footing and he fell. By the time he got back on his feet, he could see the thief jumping over a low wall. He was quite far away, but Sandeep still had some hope left in him, and he started off in pursuit with renewed vigour. He reached the wall and as he was jumping over it, he could see the thief in the distance. He was very far away. It was futile to go after him now. The Thief’s victory was now imminent and Sandeep was feeling a sting inside of him. Just then, the thief bumped into to a man and both of them fell. That acted as the stimulant and the adrenaline rush returned to Sandeep. He knew that he could easily catch up now….

The thief thanked the heavens after he had seen his pursuer fall. He nimbly climbed over the wall and victory was almost imminent. He glanced back briefly to see that his pursuer was just climbing the wall. He could getaway easily he thought. Just as he was turning around the corner, someone bumped into him. Both of them fell to the ground. It took him a moment to realize that the person who bumped into him was the person whose bike he had stolen yesterday! That person, being no fool immediately recognized him and a struggle ensured.

Prabhakar was very depressed. First his father feeling unwell and on top of that the loss of his bike he previous day had taken a toll on him. He kept cursing at his irresponsibility. He had just returned from work by the bus and was walking to the hospital, cursing his fate. Just as he turned round the corner, someone who was running bumped into him. Both of them fell down. Prabhakar’s head smarted. Rubbing his head, he looked up to see who it was. Both of them lay staring at each other for a moment. Then it hit him!!!This was the same person who he had seen yesterday at the store. It was the same person who had stolen his bike! Without a moment to lose, he got on top of the thief and got into a struggle with him.

Sandeep, who saw that the two were in a struggle, immediately joined in. the two of them tried to restrain the thief, but it was not easy. After about two minutes, they finally restrained him. Both of them had a brief recap in which they told their side of the story.

Tears started rolling down the thief’s cheek.

“Sir, please forgive me sir. Here is your pouch” he said handing it over to Sandeep.

“ here is the money I got for selling your bike sir” he said, taking out some wads of money from his pockets.

“I was forced to do this sir. My mother is admitted in the hospital. She is suffering from cancer. I need a lot of money for her treatment. This is the only way I could get quick money. I was so foolish, If I were arrested, it would devastate my mother. There will be no one to look after her. Please sir….i promise never to repeat this again. I have learnt my lesson” he pleaded.

Both Sandeep and Prabahkar had family members hospitalized, so they knew the pain that he was going thorough. They consulted each other and decided to let him go. They gave him a decent enough warning and they completely brainwashed him before letting him go.

Sandeep and Prabhakar were both quite happy that they had counselled a man into becoming a good human being. They were both very tired and went to a shop to have a cool drink. Prabhakar offered to pay and reached for his wallet, but he couldn’t find it in his pocket.

“Maybe you left it at home. Don’t worry, I’ll pay” said Sandeep.

Sandeep reached into his pocket and to his dismay even his wallet was missing!!!!

Not quite far from where the two men were worrying about their misplaced wallets, a person was walking away. He rubbed the tears off his cheeks and reached into his pocket and pulled out two wallets. He had nicked them both during the struggle. He took out the money from wallets and threw them away. It was not an entirely unfruitful day, he thought as he went in search of better things to steal………..
